Important Information: Using the JoCo. Café – Medication Collection Point
We are pleased to offer a Medication Collection Point service at JoCo Café for dispensing patients. This service allows you to collect your regular prescriptions more conveniently. However, there are some important rules and safety requirements you need to be aware of.
Who Can Use This Service?
You may be eligible to use the Medication Collection Point if:
- You are registered with Ouse Valley Practice.
- You do not pay for your NHS prescriptions (for example, because of age, benefits, a medical exemption, or maternity exemption).
- You have an NHS pre-payment certificate that is up to date and shared with the practice.
Which Medications Can Be Collected?
Only certain medications can be delivered to the collection point. These include regular, non-urgent items that are safe to store at room temperature. The following cannot be supplied through this service:
- Controlled drugs schedule 1 to 5 (such as strong painkillers or certain mental health medications). These medications can be found here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/controlled-drugs-list–2/list-of-most-commonly-encountered-drugs-currently-controlled-under-the-misuse-of-drugs-legislation
- Fridge items, like insulin, some eye and ear drops, or other medicines that need to be kept cold.
- Any medication that requires special handling, or where advice needs to be given at the point of collection.
If you’re prescribed any of these excluded items, you will need to collect or arrange collection of these directly from the dispensary at Handcross.
Before You Start Using the Collection Point
To use this service, you’ll need to:
- Confirm you meet the eligibility criteria.
- Complete a practice consent form (available at Handcross, JoCo or via our website).
- Agree to collect your medicines promptly once you’re notified they are ready via SMS
Please remember: the collection point is not staffed by healthcare professionals. If you have any questions about your medicines, you should contact the practice directly.
